There is currently significant need in areas devastated by natural disasters. This will continue into the forseeable future as climate catastrophes hit more often with more force due to the undeniable effects of climate change.

In these times, needs for support are numerous and must continue far after the clean-up and emergency crews depart. We are the systems of care that will pick up the pieces long after aid has departed and folks are beginning to see through the adrenaline fog once the most pressing emergencies are tended.

Connecting with and cultivating networks of care and support are how indigenous cultures and marginalized communities have always tended to each other. As we witness the unraveling of the systems and structures designed to keep us blind to one another, we can step into our communities and space to bridge those divides.

Turtle Women Rising is one such organization that does exactly that. At this time, the need to support those affected by Hurricane Helene is immense. They have created an expansive needs list to support those most devastated by the hurricane and floods there.
